WIRED NextFest Chicago September 27 – October 12, 2008
I went to the WIRED Nextfest the last time it was in Chicago on Navy Pier and I was very impressed. The exhibits and technology on display were engaging and the people representing the work were great to talk to and ask questions. This year’s Wired Next Fest is happening in Chicago again but scheduled to be at at Millennium Park this time and for a few more days, from Saturday September 27th to Sunday October 21th. There are two whole weeks and weekends of technology and exploration happening at the 2008 WIRED NextFest on the calendar.
A bonus is that the admission is FREE for the event, so bring your friends and family because it really is a lot of fun and you do learn some cool new things when you go to the WIRED Nextfest. The schedule of events includes:

- Wednesday, September 23 – Musician Andrew Bird kicks things off with his violin in a FREE concert in Millennium Park at 6:30 pm at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion
- Thursday, September 25 Opening Event at 6:30 PM in Millennium Park Invitation Only (boo)
- Friday, September 26 Chris Anderson the WIRED Magazine Editor in Chief, Author of The Long Tail, Breakfast Presentation at WIRED NextFest at 8:30 am in Millennium Park – invitations required (boo)
- Innovate Now presents: Creating a Culture of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM at Millennium Park (pre-registration required $200.00 quite pricey)
- Saturday, September 27 through Sunday, October 12 WIRED NextFest is Open to the general public in Millennium Park Chicago (yay)
- Wednesday, October 1 Alinea Event 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM in Millennium Park – Invitation Only (boo)
- Tuesday, October 8WIRED Nextfest Brain Bowl Competition 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM at Millennium Park this event is FREE and Open to the Public. (yay)

Extreme Photovoltaics- honk if you {heart} photovoltaics and want some super powered efficient energy generating ones like I do
X-48B Blended Wing from Boeing – the flying wing is no new concept but they have updated the technology so it is safer to fly
