Daylight Savings Time Begins 2 AM March 9th, 2008

daylight savings time, chicago, local, CSTDaylight Savings Time begins at 2 AM on Sunday March 9th, 2008. This is the first Sunday in April when you turn your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed so that we get more light earlier in the morning. We turn them back in the fall to get more light in the morning and not have to wake up in complete darkness all winter (which is only somewhat successful in Chicago). Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 AM on November 2nd when we turn the clocks back an hour to where they were and complete the cycle. Many digital clocks, computers, digital cameras and cell phones automatically adjust for you.

Everyone seems to either love or hate this schedule and many people like me are completely ambivalent. I just want to remember to turn the clock forward at the right day so I don’t mess up my timing with work on Monday after it happens! Many people use thise turn the clocks forward – turn the clocks back time to change maintenance and saftey things in their homes like air filters and batteries in smoke detectors and CO2 detectors. Whatever you do, enjoy an extra late sleep in on Sunday morning because it is sleep you really do need. You’re schedule will be fine if you go to bed early that night.

So, set an outlook reminder, write it in on your calendar or write it on your hand that on March 9th you need to set your clock forward one hour before bed. And Happy Spring!
