Chicago Weekend Fun!

The Chicago Field Museum (of natural history) has announced that admission to the museum is free during the month of February. This is great news this winter because it is usually $12.00 for Adults and $7.00 for Kids. (students and seniors are $7.00 also) Special exhibits and sections of the Field Museum are not included in this free general admission in February. Target sponsors the Field Museum’s free admission days and I think it is a great way to get families and kids out to the museum and to Chicago for a fun afternoon for less money than usual. Parking is not free though so expect to still pay $20.00 per car there. Food isn’t free either, so be ready for the usual costs of dining at the museum. But saving $24.00 admission for 2 parents and $14.00 admission for 2 kids is not bad.

Since this will be a great success in February the Field Museum and Target have decided to offer Free second Mondays of the month for the rest of 2008. The dates for these free second Mondays are:

Some of the cool exhibits you can see at the Field Museum for free are SUE (the giant T-rex Dinosaur fossil re-assembled in the main hall), Evolving Planet (about the world at the time of the dinosaurs) and Inside Ancient Egypt. These are great for kids age 3-10 who are really into Dinosaurs and exploring. If your kid really wants to go on an archaeological dig, take them to the Field Museum this February to see Sue.

Daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Last admission at 4 p.m
