Chicago’s Unseasonably Warm Weather
I have been completely confused by the unseasonably warm weather in Chicago over the last few days. It has been in the 50 degree range and occasionally hits 60 degrees fahrenheit. It is not typical for Chicago to be above 20 degrees in January let alone over 50. It is so weird to not see snow and ice everywhere this time of winter and not have to be bundled up in heavy coats, hats and scarves. In fact it is thundering and raining right now and it is a weird sound to hear in the winter. It does make taking down the Christmas decorations easier and makes all the office buildings hot and muggy with their heat still on high but we will take it. I can’t remember a January ever that I was able to wear a light weight coat and walk around outside without freezing my nose off.
Otherwise many Chicagoans seem to be on the Diet Resolution bandwagon. I went to buy Kashi GoLean Crunch at the Jewel Grocery last week and because it was new year’s resolution time they were completely out of it after I grabbed the last box. How funny.
