Things to do in Chicago this weekend: December 7, 8 & 9
The holidays are upon us in Chicago and the snow showed up too. This weekend may be your chance to write out Christmas cards and buy gifts oryou could procrastinate a little bit longer and have some fun. I am feeling a little procrastinatory right now so I wanted to list these recommended events and happenings around Chicago.
The Field Museum has a new exhibit on Maps. They look like they are from a variety of times in history as well as locations around the world. I would also expect some new statistics on populations and ecological concerns around the world. Really maps can be used to illustrate just about anything about life on earth. Why not check it out for an interesting way to spend an afternoon? Tickets are only available for dates before January 27 when the exhibit ends. Adults are $19.00 and kids are $9.00. The Chicago Improv Rebellion is playing at IO Theater on Friday night at Midnight. A far better choice than open court for that time slot. Come see the SNL and TV commercial stars of tomorrow at their best on the stage at IO doing improv. Every time I have been there it has been a great show regardless of what the review or the people I knew said. Support Improv in Chicago because it’s funny and for no other reason. If you’re a fan of Etsy.com come out to the Renegade Craft Fair this Saturday at the Pulaski Field House. This is a great place to pick up Christmas gifts and everything is hand made. It’s great to see new crafters and small businesses make it locally and do well because they make a great product, as good or better than mass produced commercial goods and the revenue goes back into our own community rather than into China.
