Steppenwolf Theater’s Osage County Wins 6 Jeff Awards in Chicago
This past summer’s local Chicago Theater hit from Steppenwolf Theater August: Osage County won six Joseph Jefferson Awards this year for 2007. The Jeff awards are given to celebrate the best in Chicago theater. (no a Jeff award isn’t an award given by some random guy named Jeff) I saw this play back in August in Chicago and it was amazing. I highly recommend that if you live in NY or go see broadway plays, to go see this while it is in New York. It is outstanding and a rare new work in the theater world on Broadway. At the award ceremony on Monday October 29, Steppenwolf Casting Director Erica Daniels accepted the award for Best Ensemble saying “On behalf of Executive Director David Hawkanson and Artistic Director Martha Lavey and our 13 actors, 11 who are currently in New York for the Broadway production, we are very grateful to accept this award in the category of ensemble that is so important to us.”Osage County won the following awards:
Best Production
Best Ensemble
Best New Work: Tracy Letts
Best Director: Anna D. Shapiro
Best Actress in a Principal Role: Deanna Dunagan
Best Scenic Design: Todd Rosenthal
Check out the new video feature of ensemble members Jeff Perry, Francis Guinan, Amy Morton and Mariann Mayberry talking about taking the Steppenwolf production of Osage County all the way to New York and to Broadway.
