Christopher Columbus Day Sales

christopher columbus, sale, day, paradeChristopher Columbus was an important explorer that taught us not to believe conventionally when people tell you that the world is flat and to persevere on until you get the best deals on sales named in his honor. Or something like that. I think today any historical significance has been lost since the marketers got ahold of the holiday. Yes there are still some parades and such, and it’s a federal and post office holiday in his honor, but who really ever thinks or talks about him and his contribution to America by locating it? Do we commemorate it with wearing 17th century clothing and reenacting the event in boats? No the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria were not present this year at the sales, but I was.

Here are the Columbus Day Sales that I know about:

Macy’s has 25-50% off all kinds of stuff in the store and you get another 15% off if you use your Macy’s charge card. This includes bedding, men’s, women’s and kids clothes, shoes and home decor.

Sears: All kinds of appliance sales. Microwaves, ovens, refridgerators, washers, dryers and flat screen TVs. If you are waiting for a good day to go appliance shopping this is it. Get the best energy star rating possible too. Lots of home related stuff on sale too. Craftsman, Grills, bikes and all kinds of house related stuff.

Pay-Less Shoe Source: Yes boots are on sale now, get ready for winter, here it comes.
