Gibson’s Steakhouse Chicago – Best Steak Restaurant in the City

Gibson's ChicagoGibson’s Steakhouse is known as one of the best places to get a premium steak in Chicago.  It is famous for being the place where famous and wealthy people go to get the best steak dinner in Chicago. (and we know our beef!) Ever since Chicago was known for being the crossroads of beef sales and processing (ala Upton sinclair the stockyards) and everyone who knows Chicago thinks that one of the main things we are known for is steaks and meat. It’s up there in Chicago recognition with Michael Jordan, Oprah, Al Capone, Hot Dogs and Pizza. My boyfriend and I went there for our 6 month anniversary to celebrate. It was an amazing meal and I highly recommend going to Gobson’s if you travel through Chicago or live here and want a special night out.

Going to Gibson’s is an entertaining experience as well as a filling one. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy and romantic. It has an old Chicago feel to it. It would be the perfect restaurant for a special date or anniversary. The tables are close together, but you don’t notice because everyone is too busy eating to talk that much. The candle light is very romantic and the service is first class. The waiter was very attentive and very nice to explain why Gibson’s was the best place in Chicago to get a steak dinner. He also explained the different cuts of meat with a demonstration at our table involving the raw cuts of meat. He said that their meat is from the best top 1% of all meat sold in the United States. The top 1% of quality. I would add the top 1% of taste too. We both chose the Fillet Mignon since we knew that was going to be great. They have so many other cuts of meat though, and some of them were several pounds and took up the entire plate. (and the largest lobster tail ever!) Go to Gibson’s if you like lots of meat.

Gibson's Steakhouse, Meat, Demonstration, WaiterThe waiter also explained that the servings are very large and you should get 1 side dish each and share them since they are both enough for 2 people. We had the asparagus and the twice baked potato. The twice baked potato was luscious and a perfect compliment to a fillet mignon. The asparagus was perfect too, although I found out my boyfriend wasn’t  fan of asparagus after he tried it. There was so much meat that we both took home doggie bags with some left over. The red wine the waiter suggested with the meal was also great. I forget which one it was though.

I suggest Gibson’s Steakhouse if you are looking for a classy, genuine Chicago place to take clients, family or special occasion dates. It is elegant and tasteful and the Steaks are amazing and unlike anwhere else in Chicago. The cost is high though. It was $122.00 for dinner for two people including wine, dinner and tip. We tip 20% but it’s up to you how much you want to leave. I think the fillet mignon was worth every penny and we both really enjoyed the experience. Check out Gibson’s Steakhouse the next time you are looking for a gourmet Gibson's Steakhouse, Chicago, Steak, Restaurantsteakhouse and leave me a comment on how you thought it was too.
